The course is aimed to attract recent graduates interested in the field of human health, nutrition, food supplements, cosmetics, LBPs, and the pharmaceutical sector.
In the course, we will explore multiple factors that contribute to the establishment and alteration of the human gut microbiota. We will explore the gut-skin axis and the brain-skin axis and how the diet is playing a crucial role in shaping our unique microbiota signature.
This program will give students the opportunity to get an introduction to NGS sequencing, understand the European Microbiome Regulatory Framework, and most importantly, explore the therapeutic approaches in the field of human health. This includes; therapies targeting nutrition, correcting dysbiosis with the use of precise probiotics, and insights into a new frontier in gut disease – Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT).
This course gives students the chance to gain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting. Supervised laboratory work includes the safety assessment of a probiotic strain and the identification of correct species and strain-specific typing of bacterial strains used in probiotic applications.
